Hello! I’m using Habitat (and I LOVE it). I’m wondering if there is a way to have the portfolio description text prevent the posts’ text from truncating. For instance, the first few things I write on one of my portfolio pages is a bulleted list, and when I view the portfolio item on a page that has multiple items on it it truncates that information and puts it into a single paragraph.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks a lot!

You can use the read more tag button in your post/page editor. If you’re working with the html editor use following tag to seperate excerpt from other content:

    i.e. like:

and I told him that he should get moving or I'd be
on him like a limpet. He looked at me with shock on
    his face and said

    more text content....

On this site you’ll find a nice tutorial about this topic:

The Read More tag works if I am trying to prevent certain text from appearing in the portfolio item description. My issue is that it’s taking the text I have placed and putting it all into the same paragraph.

I just found the “Excerpt” section when editing the item, so this can be a work around for my issue. If you have any idea about truncating information, that would be great, but otherwise I have a workaround. Thanks again!

It seems to be a wp excerpt problem. WP removes certain tags/content when displaying the excerpt which is very likely the problem here. But glad that the excerpt field solves your problem. I need to look into it but maybe Kriesi removed some WP filters so that the excerpt field text output differs from the “normal” excerpt formatting/output.
