    Hi,

    I have recently started using Enfold and I’m trying to understand if the built-in elements i.e accordion, tabbed section etc should have styling by default?

    We have added several elements but they have no styling at all and i’m just wondering if this is correct or if we have a problem somewhere with our installation? Or do I need to add custom CSS to these and there is no styling by default?

    I was looking at https://kriesi.at/themes/enfold-2017/elements/tab-section/ and assumed the styling would be like this by default.

    Similarly, we have tried to use the animation settings but this doesn’t seem to have any effect.

    Makes me think I am maybe missing something fundamental.

    Thanks

    Hey,

    Thanks for contacting us!

    All elements have default styling and you can adjust styling of most elements by simply editing them.
    Could you please post a link to your website so we can check if theme assets are not loading correctly? :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    Hi,

    Sorry but it’s just not possible to give you a link to site at the moment.

    Are you able to tell me what to check for please?

    There are no errors in the console.

    We have edited the site using the theme editor > general styling and those changes have taken effect. It’s just when we add elements via the Layout builder they have little or no styling. Like I said, the tab section looks nothing like the examples on the example page linked above. I also tried to add an icon to the tabs and that doesn’t display either.

    Could there be a setting that we should have enabled?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    Further to my email, I have discovered that the js_active class isn’t being added to the HTML tag on our pages. If I manually add it fixes the problems with the styles not being added.

    Any idea what would stop this being added please? Some sort of security feature?

    Thanks

    Hi,

    If there are no errors in console it should be okay in my opinion.
    Have you imported 2017 demo?
    Could you please post a screenshot of your Tab Container element? You can upload your screenshots on imgur.com and post the links here.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

    We are using the default demo, we didn’t pick any other demo. We just tried installing the 2017 demo and a error message appeared saying it couldn’t install. We then tried the Small Business – Flat Demo which had the same error but did actually install. Even though it installed it didn’t fix the problems with the elements.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    Sorry for the late reply, please try ensuring that in the theme options the Enfold Theme Options > Performance > Load jQuery in your footer option is not enabled, if that doesn’t help then ensure that all caching, minifying, or autoptimize plugins are disabled, and check again.
    I believe a clue is that you found that the js_active class is not being added, or it’s being removed, which could affect the css that uses that class.
    If these steps don’t help find the conflict then you could always try adding the class with a script like this at the end of your functions.php file in Appearance > Editor:

    function custom_script() { ?>
        <script>
    (function($) {
      $(document).ready(function(){
    var headclass = document.getElementsByTagName("html")[0].getAttribute("class") || "";
    document.getElementsByTagName("html")[0].setAttribute("class",headclass +" js_active");
    });
     })(jQuery);
     </script>
        <?php
    }
    add_action('wp_footer', 'custom_script');

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I disabled Load jQuery in your footer but it seems that Javascript file merging and compression is causing the problem. I disabled this and the elements are displaying properly.

    Will disabling this have a detrimental effect on the performance of the site? Could there be something with our hosting server settings that causes a problem when this is enabled?

    Thanks

    Hi,
    Glad to hear this helped, while you are creating your site it is recommended that merging, compression, and caching is disabled.
    At the bottom of the Enfold Theme Options > Performance you will see an option to Delete old CSS and JS files this should be enabled.

    Best regards,
    Mike
