I think I misunderstand the way this widget works. (And probably I’m messing up with Yoast parameters and permakinks as well.)
My goal is to have a clean structure for seo matters.
So in one hand, I have a page call ‘Clients’.
On the other hand, I have portfolio entries for all missions I’ve done for my clients.
Now if you check that page (a portfolio item), I would like the breadcrumb structure reflects the URL one’s. Which is not the case actually.
The URL structure is fine: https://c-serp.fr/clients-references/service-seo-migration-de-site-club-aladin/
The breadcrumb is: C-SERP Consultant SEO > Service SEO migration de site – Club Aladin
I would like it to be: C-SERP Consultant SEO > Clients Références > Service SEO migration de site – Club Aladin
I thought the hierarchy Breadcrumb widget inside the portfolio item would help me to set up that structure.
But in fact, even if I choose the ‘Clients’ page (the really one I want) and whatever the page I select, nothing changes in the breadcrumb.
What am I missing? Where am I confusing?
Any help will be appreciated…December 7, 2020 at 4:29 am #1265374
Sorry for the very late reply, the breadcrumb hierarchy is built with session data, think of it as leaving breadcrumbs to find your way back on “your” path, it can be different each day, it is not like a category. I hope that makes sense.
Ok, so on my localhost I adjusted the WordPress > Settings > Portfolio Entry Settings > Portfolio Categories Base to “clients-references”
and this gave me the breadcrumbs of “Clients References” when going to a portfolio item directly or from another portfolio item.
But going to another page or post messes this up, so using the Breadcrumb Hierarchy backend widget allows the portfolio item to have the breadcrumbs of “Clients References” no matter the session.
So I believe with both of these settings you can achieve your results.
As for Yoast, it’s settings can override the theme’s so please check that it’s not. I don’t use Yoast so I would recommend checking their documentation or support forum to find the right settings for you.

Thanks for trying to solve my problem Mike, I appreciate.
I’ve been playing around with all the Yoast and Enfold parameters, disable then re-enable them one by one at a time, whatever configuration I’ve tried it didn’t allow me to get the breadcrumb structure I want using portfolios.
I change the whole structure of my site and I won’t using portfolio items any more, I will now move with parent and daughters pages.
I made conclusive tests.
You can close this thread Mike. Thx again ;)December 8, 2020 at 2:14 pm #1265753
Glad you were able to sort this out, I believe for your situation parent and child pages will lead to the structure you are looking for, we will close this now. Thank you for using Enfold. 🙂
For your information, you can take a look at Enfold documentation here
For any other questions or issues, feel free to start new threads in the Enfold forum and we will gladly try to help you 🙂
