    First, thank you for the support forum. I have looked through all 15 pages for a similar thread however no luck.

    I would like to add a flash swf file to the header on the homepage. The swf file is a movie with buttons (menu links). I uploaded the swf file and added code to the header.php file. I was able to display the flash swf file however, none of the links on the home page worked other than the top menu bar.

    Either I have bad code (very possible) or I am placing it in the wrong place in the header.php file. Let me know if I should post the code I am using in the header.php file. The link with the active flash swf header is at: http://goo.gl/332rt

    Thank you in advance for your reply.

    I updated the location of the xml file. However, I still am not able to see the swf. Is it my code?

    <?php if (is_home()) : ?>
    <div id="content">
    <div class="main">
    <div class="flash">
    <div id="head">
    <div class="alignCenter"><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_adobe_flash_player.png" alt="" /></a></div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    //var fo = new FlashObject("/header_v8.swf", "head", "100%", "504", "7", "");

    var fo = new FlashObject("http://02af27e.netsolhost.com/oiea2/wp-content/themes/coherence/flash/header_v8.swf?xmlUrl=http://02af27e.netsolhost.com/oiea2/wp-content/themes/coherence/flash/tfile_main.xml", "play", "100%", "525", "8", "");
    fo.addParam("quality", "high");
    fo.addParam("wmode", "transparent");
    fo.addParam("scale", "noscale");

    I inserted the above code at line 116 on the Coherence header file.

    Please check if the flash code itself works first. Insert it into a simple html file (just head, body and nothing else) and if it works it’s a problem with the theme implementation. If it doesn’t work your flash code is broken and you need to fix it (contact the person who created the code, hire someone to rewrite it, etc.).

    Code works fine at: http://02af27e.netsolhost.com/oiea2/wp-content/themes/coherence/flash/header_v8.swf

    and at: http://02af27e.netsolhost.com/oiea2/wp-content/themes/coherence/flash/header_v8.swf?xmlUrl=http://02af27e.netsolhost.com/oiea2/wp-content/themes/coherence/flash/tfile_main.xml

    Is there cleaner code for insert the flash file into the theme header? Any recommendation for where to insert into the coherence theme header.php file?

    Please try this plugin. http://wordpress.org/plugins/top-flash-embed/

    Maybe you can use the shortcode then echo it out using the do_shortcode wp function on header.php.

    Yikes, seems like coherence does not support flash header…

    I would consider moving away from Flash. It’s pretty much a dying technology since today javascript can create interactive content that’s visible to search engines. Playing videos, annoying advertising banners and an occasional slider is the extent of Flash use by diehard developers. The enhancement to the look of the site from the cutesy rollovers can’t compare to the potential loss in seo and the various incompatibilities preventing certain segments of users from being able to navigate using flash. I would reconsider.
