    Loving the theme, only have one issue I can’t seem to figure out.

    All my portfolio items are videos and I managed to put a different preview image up instead of the video. However, if I click on the image it plays the video instead of taking me to the specific post. How do disable this from happening?

    I do not want the video to play in the portfolio column layout, I want it to link to the portfolio entry where the video can be played.

    Hi guys, sorry to double post. But could someone please give me a solutions. I need to do a lot of work on the website tomorrow and need to get this sorted. I know your Angular theme does this the right way (the way I want it to be).

    You can change the link behavior of your featured images on the page/post editor screen. Scroll to the “Featured media” options field and set “Apply a link to the image?” to “Link to this post”.

    Hi Dude! Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this does not work. When I click the image it still tries to play the video in the thumbnail. The featured imaged is a vimeo video with a assigned picture thumbnail. All I want is for the thumbnail to just be a picture that opens up the portfolio item linked to it, I don’t want it to play the video within the thumbnail. I essentially want my Eunoia site at http://www.radicalorange.tv to work as this site julien.chichignoud.com

    Hope you can help, since this is pretty crucial to me.

    Hi guys,

    I actually thought I’d be smart and create a separate post (1 with just an image that links to the one with the video). However, I noticed that changing any of the links in the featured media options does not have any effect. The post will always link to itself no matter what I do..

    Anyways sorry for the spam, but help would be highly appreciated!

    You can go about having an image in the portfolio thumbnail on the archive page which will take you to a video on the portfolio item page by creating two separate portfolio item pages. One that contains an image and another one that contains the video. have the page with the image redirect to the second portfolio item. Put it in a different category so that the duplicate portfolio item won’t display on the portfolio archive.

    I think that’s the easiest way of doing it.

    I just read your second post after writing this., and I have no problems creating a portfolio item with only 1 image and having the image link to the second portfolio item that only has the video.

    Hi Nick, Thanks so much for your reply.

    I was wondering instead of doing the above, is it possible to have the first featured image not appear in the actual post? This is essentially what I want: the first image to appear in the portfolio thumbnail layout and the second image will be the video.

    Maybe, I am doing something wrong with the linking. Could I PM my user details to someone to check it out for me?

    I’ve figured out that the linking does not work because of ajax being turned on, when I switched to no ajax the linking worked. This still did not fix the video loading in the thumbnail issue.

    However, I do believe the best solution would be to not display the first featured image in the post but just in the portfolio thumbnail. I know this is possible with the theme, because this website does it http://christinekawasakichan.com/

    I just can’t figure out what to change to make it possible..

    Thanks again for all the help guys!

    Hi Vikash,

    If you go to the theme options then Layout & Settings you can change the option “Slideshow behavior on overview pages” so that the first image on overview pages is used as a thumbnail but it does not appear on the actual portfolio item. Just change the drop down to “Display only single image on overview pages and all slideshow images except the first one on single entries”.

    I assumed you were hosting your files on youtube or vimeo. Eunoia at the moment has no support for self hosted videos out of the box.

    You can use a plugin such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -shortcodes/ or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -wordpress/ or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -audio-player/ to embed html5 media into your website.

    Until there is an hml5 standard (1-2 years more), each new update from ios/chrome/ie/ff is likely to require an update to the html5 video player, so it makes little sense to include it in the theme framework. To prevent inconveniencing your visitors it is highly recommended to host your videos with vimeo or youtube.

    Thanks so much for your help Devin. I totally missed that option!

    I have been using vimeo videos Nick, thanks for your tip though!

    I just have 2 last small issues that happen when I load the portfolio item.

    1. It seems that the theme loads the first image and then removes it so the second image moves up. Is there any way to fix this? You can see it when you go to http://www.radicalorange.tv and click on Romantic Death.

    2. The theme also stretches the vimeo player to fill the page. Is there any way to make it stop doing this? I just want the player to appear without any stretching.

    Thanks heaps!

    Sure , Vimeo/Youtube makes life easier. One less thing to pay close attention to.

    1) Please deactivate your plugins, empty the cache and see if that helped things out. Something like that is a conflict or a bad install. I usually just re-install on the spot. Cheaper on the nerves and faster than trying to figure out why.

    2) Yes. You need to set its size using max-width and max height. via css using Google Developer Tools. If you can show me a page with a video like that and give me width and height you want it to be at. I can give you a better answer.

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks for your quick reply. Do you mean a reinstall of the theme or wordpress?

    You can view the first image disappearing and the stretching of the player at the link below:

    Sorry my bad, the image disappearing only happens in the ajax environment you can view it happening by going to http://www.radicalorange.tv and clicking on Romantic Death (the only item with a picture).

    I checked the link, I can see the image.

    I am not sure what size you want the video to be on the portfolio pages but it looks like with 690width you need 393height to fit everything without a top and bottom border. You have to remember that the size of the original video (400×300 lets say) can only be increased proportionally. So if you increase the height by 50%, you must also increase the width by 50%. And if you increase the width by 50pixels you must figure out how many % is 50 pixels and do the same to the other side (aspect ratio) . There are online calculators to help you with this.

    Please try this css

    #top.single-portfolio iframe {
    height: 393px !important;
    width: 690px !important;
    #top.home iframe {
    height: 450px !important;
    width: 600px !important;

    The first block of code is for non-ajax and the second is for homepage ajax portfolio (where i saw no flickering or reloading also)

    I looked and in Chrome it looks fine to me. When you hit play, there is a dark screen for a moment or two, but no flicker and nothing in code indicating that something else is happening, its just.. a pause before video starts and doesn’t’ look unnatural to me.

    Thanks Nick!

    Just wondering where I would put this code, I put it in the custom CSS but it does not seem to do anything..

    Sorry. I copied a piece of something extra. Please use the code above, I corrected it.

    You can paste it into Quick CSS located in Eunoia > Theme Options > Style … on the bottom of the page – the text area or add to bottom of your custom.css file

    Hi Nick,

    Unfortunately this does not seem to work. It only seems to move the vimeo video within the container/black box. Could you please have a look at it for me (www.radicalorange.tv).

    I also had a few other questions:

    I wondering if there is a way to not show the orange button (with icon inside of it) on top of the container for the team member shortcodes?

    Is there a possibility for the individual portfolio items (not ajax) to look the same as the ajax items. So title on the right on top of the metafields next to the image. It currently appears on top like this http://radicalorange.tv/blog/portfolio-item/tedx-sydney/ .

    Is there a way to not display the likes, tweets, categories etc. in the portfolio items underneath the content http://radicalorange.tv/blog/portfolio-item/tedx-sydney/. So I would like to get rid of all this

    Thanks! You guys are great!

    I just noticed you are using Eunoia 1.1 while version 1.2 has been out. Would you please update by logging onto themeforest with the account you used to purchase the theme and downloading the update. Please be aware that the update will overwrite all theme files so make sure to make a backup of any template files you may have customized including the custom.css file prior to updating.

    1) Orange Button – Hi could you give me a link please to the page with the button, can’t seem to find it.

    2) Non-Ajax portfolio – Yes, possible, but please update the theme first so we are on same version. Otherwise my code won’t work again.

    3) Facebook/Twitter- There are two files in the includes directory of the theme you will need to modify

    a) loop-portfolio-single.php lines 77-83

    b) loop-index.php 136-142

    They both look the same, so just add two slashes in front of each line so *the end result* will look like the code below in both files:

    //echo '<div class="like-count minor-meta">';
    //echo avia_facebook_like($id);
    //echo '</div><span class="text-sep like-count-sep">/</span>';

    //echo '<span class="tweets-count minor-meta">';
    //echo avia_retweet($id);
    //echo '</span><span class="text-sep tweets-count-sep">/</span>';

    Hi Nick,

    All updated now. Unfortunately the code you gave to fix the vimeo box is only still moving the video inside the box.

    1. Orange button link – http://kriesi.at/themedemo/?theme=eunoia (so the orange circle + icon above Kriesi’s name for example).

    I am also adding flags to link to translated versions of the site on the right top corner using the theme options for adding a phone number etc (it has support hotline in the demo). However I was wondering if I can make the flags centered on the line instead of being higher than the text and if I can create some space between them and the text. (www.radicalorange.tv right top corner)

    Thanks so much for all your help. Almost got the theme exactly how we need it!

    Als just wondering if you could show me how to remove the posted in (categories) which appears alongside the facebook and twitter attributes.

    Hey vikashautar,

    Try adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

    #top .small_header_info a img {
    float: right;
    padding-top: 8px;
    padding-left: 5px;

    If you adjust the iframe css from Nick and remove the width declaration entirely, it should auto adjust the width to fill the space and then not mess with the player dimensions. I’ll keep Nick tagged on the topic however since he has done most of the changes and is more familiar with where you are and what is being fixed.

    That should clean the flags up.

    Hi Devin,

    Thanks for fix the flags. It looks great.

    I tried your suggestion for the vimeo box issue, however this does not seem to fix it. It only moves the video within the black box..

    Do you have any other ideas?

    Are you trying to have the box fit the video alone? If that is the case i’m not actually sure if that is possible. I don’t think the container can be aware of what is inside the iframe aside from what the preview image is (for the height).

    Just to explain it clearer. When you go to http://www.radicalorange.tv and click on a portfolio item with video (TEDx for example). You can see that the vimeo video is floating in a black box. I want to get rid of the black box, I just want the video to appear without all the black underneath it. It shows images just fine, video seems to be a problem however.

    It’s very important for us to get this working, since we are a video production company and it looks really silly. Could you let me know if this is possible? It seems so strange cause if I would add a video to a normal post this does not happen, the theme just seems to stretch the video container to fill up the height, which isn’t necessary at all!

    Try this please

    #top.home .slideshow_media_wrap {
    background-color: white !important;

    #top .slideshow li iframe {
    height: 341px !important;
    width: 600px !important;
    position: relative;
    display: inline-block !important;
    background-color: white !important;
    overflow: hidden;

    ******Please make sure to put this code *last* in custom.css file, as the very last item in that file.*****

    Hi Nick,

    I tried it but it didn’t work.

    I’m not sure if this makes any sense, but I went digging by using inspect element in google chrome and noticed that if I changed the height to 390 on the following line that it fixed the issue.

    <li data-animation="random" class="featured featured_container1 caption_right caption_right_framed caption_framed   videoslide" style="visibility: visible; opacity: 1; z-index: 3; -webkit-transition: none;height: 390px;">

    Good. Please look at code above, I edited and added some things, and please add it as the last item on the bottom of your custom.css file.

    Hi Nick,

    Yes I noticed! Thanks so much! This is great!!

    However, it still is doing the same thing in the non ajax version.

    I also noticed that the Ajax version now has quite a bit of white space below the content, is there a way to tighten this up?
