Is there a way to disable the video playback inside the thumbnail image on the portfolio archive page?

Basically what I’ve done is use the portfolio functionality within Choices to manage a customized media gallery. There are images and videos. The images have a thumbnail image, title, and excerpt and you can click on the image or title to view the full post. The videos on the other hand have a thumbnail, title and excerpt but when you click the thumbnail, it plays a miniature version of the video within the thumbnail box.

While I’m no javascript/jquery expert, I can see where the video thumbnail upon click is being overlayed by the YouTube iFrame.

Is there a way to disable the video overlay in the thumbnail and just have the thumbnail image be a link to the post?? So the functionality would basically be just like an image post.

If it’s a matter of replacing certain functions within a particular JS file, what files/code should I be looking for to make the video thumbnails behave just like image thumbnails?

The site is and I have my video slide set to “Link to this post”.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In the interim I’ve decided to use the AJAX portfolio option which essentially makes the thumbnail behave as I want it to.

I’d still be curious to know if this is possible without using AJAX.

Glad you figured it out! To fully understand and provide you another approach, we should see the website while the issue is there.
If you would like to try it some time, let us know!
