I still got problems with the functionality of the sentence theme and it is still something like this: (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -correctly ! In my case the counter under every entry (portfolio, blog, …) doesn’t refresh after hitting the like-button as the seperate window already shows the higher value! This also happens in your demo- theme! I’m not sure about the problem… does it take some time refreshing the counter? Is there any problem with my browser (Using Safari and FireFox in Mac)? No idea…

Thx for your answer and advise!

I think this is a limitation by design – I checked the code in choicesincludeshelper-social-media.php and the social count update function uses the transient api ( ) to cache the counts for 1 hour. Thus the user needs to refresh the page to get hold of the new like count value on the blog/post page itself. However in the worst case it can take up to 1 hour. I’ll tag this post for Kriesi though – maybe it’s possible to increase the counter with a callback function somehow or I’m missing something.

Hey! Pretty much what Dude said. Facebook once provided an event listener that made it possible to update the counter immediately but it seems this doesnt work any longer. Since facebook is changing its api every now and then without documentation I have stopped bothering and let the transient do its job. Once I find a tutorial or a documentation snippet that makes instant like increase possible again I will of course add it :)

I really appreciate your answers. As I checked back on myself, the issue shows up the same. After some time the correct counted number of likes finally will be stored at the right place in under all entries. Better that than counting never …
