Some of my page titles are suddenly appearing bolded and some are not. I’m not sure what caused this.

    This page is: http://gregalsobrook.com/hueys/about/

    This page is not: http://gregalsobrook.com/hueys/menu/

    Any ideas?

The problem is a Javascript error. I am not sure what is causing it, but try commenting out line 12 of js/custom.js by placing // at the beginning. Let us know if that helps. I am elevating the issue because it seems to be an underlying bug in the JS code.

    Thanks for the reply Noah.

Is this the line you are referring to??

    portfolioSorter.kriesi_portfolio_sort({items:’.one_fourth’}); // activates portfolio sorting

That’s what I show as line 12 in custom.js. I tried commenting out that line with no change. Any other suggestions?

I also just noticed that my lightboxes are no longer working on any of my photos. I have no idea what’s going on here.

I just restored all of the files on my FTP from a backup from ~3 weeks ago (except for the uploads folder and the wp-config.php [because the database ID changed]). I am still having both of these issues. I am 99% sure the bold titles issue wasn’t there 3 weeks ago, and 100% sure the lightbox issue wasn’t there. Would I need to restore the SQL database as well? Wouldn’t these settings be in the config files on the FTP server though? This one really has me stumped. :(

A couple of other things worth noting…

-Since the beginning, I have noticed that some page titles will appear bold as the page loads, and then kick to normal.

-I made this change to my stylesheet several weeks back: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/mainpage-layout

I don’t think that’s the cause, but figured it was worth pointing out. As I said above, I’m pretty sure the page titles were okay even after that change, and I’m positive the lightboxes were okay. This issue just started yesterday, and I can’t think of any CSS changes that I’ve made, and I haven’t installed any plugins.

Basically what is happening is the page takes the regular bold and changes it to a nicer font using a technique called font substitution. So that flash is normal. Try getting the JS file again directly from ThemeForest and maybe the style.css just to see if it changes.

I replaced style.css and custom.js with the original theme files and it did not fix either issue.

A friend mentioned to me that he had a bad piece of HTML code wreak havoc on his wordpress site once. Could this possibly be the cause of my issues? Replacing the above files (and even rolling back to two weeks ago) and still having both of these issues makes me wonder if the issue is somewhere in the SQL database. I wonder if I should restore the database from two weeks ago to see what happens (after backing up my current one).

Another thing I should mention that I just remembered… After reading up on some wordpress security documents, I messed with the permissions on the wp-content folder several nights ago. I don’t remember having any issues the day or two after doing this, so I don’t think this is the cause… but I still wanted to mention it. I also have since set the permissions back to 0777 on wp-content and that didn’t help.

I’m open to any other suggestions. I’m starting to get a little nervous. My client is almost ready to launch the site. Thanks guys.

Whew! Problem solved! It was a widget causing the issues. I inserted a code that Mail Chimp created for me so that visitors could sign up for the newsletter list… and that was messing with everything. Thanks for the help Noah. Sorry to waste your time.

Glad that you solved the problem.
