    Currently, when I use the accordian slide feature, I have to designate which posts will be populated in the accordian area. Is there a way so that new posts automatically start in the very first slide and cascade and continue through the blog? I’ve made a diagram below:

    Currently, the layout page format is (in reverse chronological order):

    (Purchase code hidden if logged out) (Slider)

    Is there any way to re-format the page so that it goes:

    (Purchase code hidden if logged out)

    Thank you!

    Slider: Assign for example a category called Slider so that only events/posts are shown in the slider

    Set the homepage to not pick up events/posts in the category called Slider by chosing the category called Slider in Exclude Categories settings.

    Are you trying to show the posts by date or just show the latest on the left? On one of my sites I sort them by date instead of last one on left.

    I want to have the latest post to populate first-left slider container regardless of a category label. Every posting will appear in the slider, and as newer postings occur, it will get pushed down the main column.

    You can use “offset” in the WP_Query for regular content to hide the first 5 posts. If you don’t add them to the slider they won’t show up.

    Open up index.php, and find this code:

    $additional_loop = new WP_Query("cat=".$negative_cats."&paged=$paged");

    Change it to:

    $additional_loop = new WP_Query("cat=".$negative_cats."&paged=$paged&offset=5");

    Ok this works perfect!!

    Thanks so much James!! Thank you too monsoon, this is also another solution I was looking into.

    Glad that you sorted it out.

    The code works perfect on the front main page…however it seemed to have affected the pagination on subsequent pages. Please have a look:

    If you scroll to the pagination on the bottom, the site seems to only display the first 10 postings regardless of what page you are on. I have about 7 pages, and every page shows only the first 10 postings.

    Hello can someone help me with this??

    Change this:

    $additional_loop = new WP_Query("cat=".$negative_cats."&paged=$paged&offset=5");

    to this:

    if (!$is_paged) {
    $additional_loop = new WP_Query("cat=".$negative_cats."&paged=$paged&offset=5");
    } else {
    $additional_loop = new WP_Query("cat=".$negative_cats."&paged=$paged");

    This will now only offset the 5 posts on the first page and not page 2 / page 3 etc.

    I replaced the code with your revised code, it is still populating the first 10 posts on every page.
