it is really fun to experiment with Angular, the implemented options are great. There is just one thing regarding the portfolio item thumbnails.

I really like the grey effect before mouse-over – but unfortunately the default grey layer makes the images very flat and contrast is missing a lot.

    And here are my questions:

    1) Is there a way to modify the grey-effect itself?

    2) Is it possible to place custom, more contrasy thumbnails (which do not appear in the main area)?

    3) Or – is it possible to create the thumbnail of the portfolio item main image? I wouldn’t mind to loose the controls in the thumbnails.

Please see my wonderful sketch to understand what I try to describe :)

    4) Is it maybe a better idea to define a separate custom field for that purpose?

    Hi typogretel,

The grayscale effect is actually done with javascript on the fly so there isn’t any generated image or way to really change the effect unless you know of a way through javascript and re-write the function for it.

You could designate each portfolio item to only use a single preview thumbnail that isn’t shown on the portfolio page (single). This can be done in the theme settings Layout & Settings tab with the option Slideshow behavior on overview pages. Just choose to only show a single image on overview pages and all slideshow images except first one on the single pages.

Then add your custom thumbnail as the first image in the themes slideshow meta box under the visual editor.
