Catalog is using small thumbs and this is the image that is shown in the lightbox, you could stretch it by css but it will lose quality. This element is not meant for such modifications. You might want to consider using another element.

Any full-width element is pushing sidebar below since there is no room for it. You need to use a different element not the color section, something like 1/1 on your blog page.

The code worked when I put it on top of all other code in Quick css and it works, there must be a syntax error at some point there and the rest of the styles do not work. You might want to validate all your css from Quick css.

As for the logo space, are if you add padding or margin the logo will shrink, you probably need to make the header taller in the theme options first.

When you update the theme, it’s the original parent theme that gets updated, the files in your child theme are not updated, it is for the users to be able to keep their customizations, but if you have copies of the parent theme files in your child theme it is up to you to keep them updated.
