Again, on the link you posted, I see no parallax. Yes, it might work on Android but the fixed background images don’t work in Safari on mobile.
Yes, there ways, people implemented on other websites, but it cannot be done with a simple code snippet and so we do not provide this kind of customizations within the scope of the support here.

Well, with the way menu works now, even the “Journal” menu item should not be highlighted.

You need to add a custom class or id to one of them.

You are not doing anything wrong by using the same footer of on all pages. You’re using all the plugins that supposed to help, but spammers are getting more sophisticated, unfortunately.
You might want to hire someone to configure the plugins for you in such a way that there is the max result.
